I'm going to geek out to you right now. I fell in love with this soundtrack as a kid. However, as an adult, I learned that in Japan this game was released with an expansion sound chip called the "VR6". The expansion chip allowed for extra channels, and a BADASS saw-wave, along with the standard square and triangle waves.

Now this Japanese version has amazingly superior sound to the American version, the songs sound almost the same, but in addition to cooler soundfonts occasionally there's an extra channel doing something here or there. We decided to use the Japanese versions in our arrangement, so a few of our melodies may sound slightly different than the American version.

The name of the Japanese Castlevania 3 is called "Akumajou Densetsu"
